In the caption above each image is a description of the scene being photographed. The archival reference of the image is also embedded in the description using the following format:
AREA : DESCRIPTION (PHOTO REFERENCE)
So, a reference such as Tr21: W facing elevation (LL1/CP9-19) shows a photograph from Trench 19 (of the west facing elevation), with an archival reference of LL1/CP9-19.

How to browse the online images
Click on the gallery you would like to view.
When you are in that gallery, choose a thumbnail image to see a larger version of it. Extra information will be displayed as you hover over the image, along with tool-tips explaining the various functions the image viewer is capable of (such as scrolling through the thumbnails etc.)
To return to the initial view of the image galleries, click anywhere in the enlarged image you are viewing, or use the button in the bottom, left-hand corner.
