What we do
The Environment and Forestry Directorate protects and enhances Scotland’s natural environment.
We are responsible for:
- landscapes, biodiversity, woodlands, water and soil
- policies on the management of natural heritage and protected sites and access
- the protection of species and wildlife management
- the protection of land, water and air quality
- promoting a circular economy through resource and waste management and reduction
- flood risk management
- funding environmental and agricultural scientific research and economic and statistical analysis
