Ventilation

Ventilation

A range of guidance has been developed to help businesses and staff understand what good ventilation is which includes Scottish Government ventilation guidance.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have developed guidance on ventilation and air conditioning during COVID-19 which aims to help employers identify the factors to consider when deciding on ventilation needs in their premises.

Printable summaries on ventilation advice for employers and ventilation advice for everyone at work are available. These summaries will help businesses and staff to understand the importance of opening windows and ensuring the workplace is well ventilated.

In September 2021 we announced the establishment of a £25 million fund to help businesses improve ventilation. This fund opened for applications on 23 November. Businesses such as restaurants, bars and gyms will be able to claim back costs of up to £2,500 for measures like the installation of carbon dioxide monitors or improvements to windows and vents.

More information on eligibility has now been published on the Business Ventilation Fund website.
