as a keen golfer, it is impossible not to be drawn to st andrews. i spend a long weekend there every year, not only playing the magnificent golf courses but spending time walking along the golden beach and wandering through all the streets and alleyways that make up this lovely town.

My treasured place has to be the Paisley Abbey. It's so quiet and peaceful and it also has so much history. I have been facinated by it's history and architecture ever since I was a kid.

birnie kirk, moray
an early seat of christianity in moray. predating the final selection of elgin as the site for the cathedral. along with spynie and kinnedar, birnie tells any important part of the church's pre-reformation history in moray. it is stilll in use today and evokes the simple splendour of worship in scotland. it is small and compact, devoid of ornament inside apart fromm some very beautiful small stained glass windows. magnificent norman arch.
