Case Studies - Spittal of Glenmuick

Spittal of Glenmuick is a township located in Deeside, Aberdeenshire within the Cairngorms National Park. It is situated at the end of a single-track road leading off the B976 (South Deeside Road), 8 miles along Glenmuick from Ballater. The township is on the south side of the River Muick, close to the Glenmuick Visitor Centre.

The township is situated on the Balmoral Estate which is owned by the Royal family. Guided visits to the township are available by contacting the Balmoral Estate Ranger at the Glenmuick Visitor Centre, telephone 013397 55059. There is also an interpretive exhibition about the township on display in the Visitor Centre, and a self-guided historic trail around the site.
