Grants of £190,000 have been offered to 21 centenary memorials projects across Scotland, including the iconic Kitchener memorial in Orkney.
Wilfred Owen, arguably the most well-known of Britain’s First World War poets, was commemorated today with the unveiling of a plaque in his honour, at the Edinburgh school he taught at whilst recovering from ‘shellshock’ in 1917.
An extensively illustrated new book, Scotland’s First World War, exploring the physical legacy of the war in Scotland, was recently launched in Orkney.
