1 Overview

To make an impact on colleagues and clients, choose a venue that can’t fail to impress. Scotland’s most splendid and complete surviving 17th-century townhouse, in Stirling’s old town, was grand enough for its owner to receive royal guests from the castle.

Its Renaissance façade and magnificent main entrance will bowl over your guests before they even enter Argyll’s Lodging. Inside they will be met by fine and elegant architecture that provides an intimate setting for smaller meetings and corporate events.

Argyll’s Lodging is available for private hire, day and evening, including for:

  • lunches
  • seminars
  • presentations
  • dinners

Argyll’s Lodging sits just below Stirling Castle and is easy to reach by road or rail.

Stirling is just 1 hour’s drive from either Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital, or Glasgow, its largest city. The central belt city is also easily accessible for guests travelling from the north or south.

2 Venues for private hire

Laigh Hall

Capacity: 60 people (reception or theatre)

Hold your reception or seated presentation in this charming hall entered via the impressive courtyard. Guests will be greeted by a unique space that houses an original oak scale and platt staircase – one of the first of its kind in Scotland and beautifully restored.

High Dining Room

Capacity: 30 people

Host an intimate dinner in the grandest of the lodging’s public rooms, once the setting for banquets given by the Earl and Countess of Argyll. Its walls have been painstakingly hand-painted with gold leaf, restoring this atmospheric room to its former glory.

Walled Garden and Courtyard

Capacity: 60 people

Weather permitting, drinks receptions can be held in the private gardens or the courtyard, which is flanked by elaborate entrance gates and Corinthian pillars. Either will give your event a sense of occasion.

Daytime meetings

Our day delegate package provides exclusive hire of a meeting room (Laigh Hall or the High Dining Room), a substantial catering offer and members of our staff on hand to tell delegates the history of Argyll’s Lodging and its residents. Complimentary parking is available from October to March. Tours of the property can be arranged during breaks.
