About Us

Get an overview of Historic Environment Scotland’s grants and funding, and learn how we prioritise our funding.

Historic Environment Scotland provides a wide range of grants and funding for projects that share our aims to protect and promote the historic environment.

Individuals and organisations can both apply to Historic Environment Scotland for financial help with projects and works. We offer grants to help protect and promote the historic environment, and to train people in skills needed in this area.

Our grants are in high demand. We prioritise funding for projects that:

  • deliver benefits for communities
  • promote public access
  • promote quality
  • develop knowledge and skills
  • build capacity for local heritage management

Each of our grants is targeted at a specific purpose.
