Accessibility is operated by Scottish Enterprise and Partners.

Scottish Enterprise and the delivery partners are committed to making our services accessible to everyone who could benefit from them, irrespective of any disability they may have.

We have designed this website to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at double A level. We also test our websites with disabled users to identify and address any issues. We have an in house accessibility lab and testing team, who test new features and changes to the site for accessibility issues.

Some accessibility defects have come to our attention during testing of this Beta site. The following defects will be resolved by 1 April 2020:

  • The mobile main filter menu presents off-screen content to assistive technologies
    • We will only pass on-screen content to assistive technologies, when the filter menu is open on mobile
  • On mobile layout, filters are not following the visual order of the page
    • Filters will be read out first before the main content of the page
  • Focus style for links in the footer does not have enough contrast against the background colour
  • Some keyboard shortcuts for NVDA are not working as expected
  • Multiple links to Browse support on the home page caused some screenreader users to be disorientated

Changes we have made

The following defects were identified during earlier development and have been addressed:

  • All pages
    • The cookie notice 'continue' buttons description needed to be extended to explain its purpose better
    • The mobile main navigation menu presented off screen content to assistive technologies
    • When browsing the site on desktop mode, there was visually hidden text about the mobile navigation menu, being passed to assistive technologies
  • Browse Support
    • Visual order of the filter and listing sections, did not match HTML order on desktop
    • The support type filter option was found to have several accessibility issues on both desktop and mobile
    • On mobile when you opened the filter menu, focus was not set within it
    • Issues with scrolling through the main navigation while using a mobile
    • Desktop mobile menu was being fed back to assistive technology on desktop mode
    • Type of support listbox did not feed back to assistive technology when user selects or de-selects an option on desktop
    • Mobile support type listbox was not accessible
  • Enquiry forms
    • It was unclear which fields were mandatory
  • Home page
    • Image was updated to provide better contrast with text. We will make further improvements to this
