Community Heritage Conversations: Youth Engagement

Saturday 13 February 2021

Community Heritage Conversations

Community Heritage Conversations is a re-imagining of Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference, which since 2012 has developed into a lively forum bringing together many different voices from the heritage world.

Life changed in 2020, and now we're bringing you a series of monthly online events to explore the themes of resilience, innovation, adaptation and celebration. The series will run throughout 2021.

Youth Engagement

This third Conversation in the series is a half-day event on the morning of Saturday 13 February. This time, the theme is 'Youth Engagement’.

It’s not a secret that young people are under-represented in terms of engagement with heritage. It’s an issue that our sector has been trying to tackle for many years.

This session will look at how community heritage organisations are approaching youth engagement, and their efforts to involve young people in all aspects of heritage work.

From making our work more transparent and accessible to young people from all backgrounds to demonstrating that heritage is relevant to their lives, there are things we can all do to welcome and champion young people in the heritage sector.

Speakers will offer expert advice, support and insights relating to youth engagement and we will hear from community groups who have been successful in attracting young people to get involved with their work.

The Conversations will be hosted on Zoom and will be free to attend. Technical support will be available to those who need it.

For more information on speakers, the programme and booking tickets, please visit the Eventbrite page.
