Commenting on the Universities UK #SupportStudyAbroad campaign, Higher Education Minister Richard Lochhead said:
“Students and young people benefit hugely from studying, training or working through Erasmus+, with proportionally more people from Scotland taking part than any other country in the UK.
It is deeply worrying that the UK Government’s inaction
and lack of clarity has led to the Norwegian Government telling students going abroad this autumn to look at countries other than the UK.
We owe it to our young people to maintain a viable exchange programme that offers a chance for Scots to learn languages and experience new cultures, bringing reciprocal benefits to our universities.
Scotland voted to remain in the EU and that is the best way to allow our students to continue to enjoy the great benefits that Erasmus+ brings.”
